[1.1] What is Eudemonia?
Eudemonia is a retail store dedicated to the games we love.
We sell CCG's, board games, miniatures, and much along those lines.
We have a large play space that gets packed on tournament days with 50+ people,
and 40 PC's running network games, some with our own servers.
Located in downtown Berkeley, we are a block from the UC campus
and two from BART. Best of all, we stays open till 2am on Fridays.
[1.2] What merchandise do you carry?
We have all kinds of trading card games, quality board games, role
playing games and books, collectible miniatures, and other gaming accessories.
[1.3] What does Eudemonia mean?
Eudemonia
means
happiness. We borrowed the term from Sid Meier's masterful
strategy game, Alpha Centauri,
where the tech tree contained
Eudaimonia.
But some of you may insist that
Aristotle spoke of Eudemonia first.
[1.4] Is there a charge for using your play space?
No.

[2.1] What events run at Eudemonia?
Magic: the Gathering, World of Warcraft : TCG,
Vampire: The Eternal Struggle, Warlord, and more; check the
calendar.
[2.2] What is the "Eudemonia Standard Prize Structure?"
Typically for tournaments with an entry fee of $5, it is a
prize structure composed thus:
[2.3] Can I host my own event?
8 players 1st to 4th place gets $20, $10, $5, $5 in store credit. 16 players 1st to 4th place gets $30, $15, $8, $8 in store credit. 5th to 8th place get 1 hour of computer time each. 24 players 1st to 4th place gets $45, $25, $10, $10 in store credit. 5th to 8th place get 2 hours of computer time each. 9th to 12th place get 1 hour of computer time each. 32 players 1st to 4th place gets $60, $30, $15, $15 in store credit. 5th to 8th place get 3 hours of computer time each. 9th to 12th place get 2 hours of computer time each. 13th to 16th place get 1 hour of computer time each. A similar prize structure will be used for other numbers of players.
Yes! Your participation is vital to making Eudemonia great.
We are always looking for more events to add to the calendar. If
you feel a need to make a particular event happen, let us know
at info@eudemonia.net. Also, for many events, Eudemonia offers
nice perks to the event director, if the event produces a
sufficient turnout, so make the event early and tell your friends.
[2.4] Can I host my own private event?
Yes. Eudemonia can host private parties of 25 people or less when
it is not open for business, and occasionally when we are open as
well. Please contact us for details.
[3] Magic: the Gathering
[3.1] Do you sell singles?
Yes. We carry a vast and ever-growing collection of singles and packs.
[3.2] Do you buy cards and collections?
Yes. If it is a large collection, you should call before coming
in, to make sure the right people are at the counter.
[4] Internet Gaming
[4.1] How much does it cost to use the computers?
The charge for time useage varies depending on time of day but is never more than
$4 per hour, and is less in the morning and early afternoons.
There is no membership fee, anyone can come in and play and
for most games, you don't need your own account or a copy of the game as
they are all pre-installed on our computers. We also offer day, week and
month passes.

We have dual T1 lines. There is more than enough bandwidth to go around.

Yes, every so often. In the forums you can find
discussions about such things. Upcoming events can always be found in
the calendar.
