I've had many requests from cs players in the store and on the server about holding a cs lan tournament at Eudo. Is this possible or are the logistics just too difficult?

As far as blocking out time and reserving computers, I have no objections. I think how it would work would be that players aren't charged an entre fee, but they are responsible for their own LAN time - so they have to make sure they have enough time on their account to finish the tournament. We could also give out LAN time as prizes. The only caveat for me is that I have no idea how to organize the event itself, so that'll have to be Dylan or another Eu member.

Well, if the tournment takes place on the weekend at a low traffic time period, there is no need to worry about reserving computers.

I think this would be a really fun idea.. and yeah 3v3 would probably work (though we may have to change some attributes like increasing the bomb timer, etc). If we could get like 6 teams of 3 then we could have 5 rounds of swiss or something like that.
Sometimes even getting 3 can be difficult though, what do you guys think?

Yeah, I think getting 3 might be a bit tough...
I dunno know though, we have plently of people playing cs here all the time. I just worry about the level of competativeness. For example, I think a team of dylan, vaheh, and connor, could probly beat anyone else here...

i think that would be a great idea...i mean, hey why not? sounds like a challenge...(however you spell that) i say go for it...^_^
also i have to agreed on sorrow on that. but beside from that, it does seem quite nice for something like that to happen. just for once...perhaps you can try it out for once, and see how it goes...perhaps it might work out...

well that assumes that we wouldn't get any other teams from the east bay.. i mean i know there are groups of three that are better than connor vaheh and i. should we focus this on just the regulars of eudo? because if so i think we'll be hard pressed to get 24 players anyway. also, i was thinking we might want to up the team count to 4 instead of 3.. most maps are just too big to only have 3 counter terrorists spread out.

well whatever is decided, I would suggest sunday afternoon as an ideal time to hold it. There seem to be less people, so there should be more computers free at that point in time.

i doubt this will ever get off the ground if the eu| clan is not permitted to attened. everyone would just be playing against the people they always play with, it would be a little boring.
if the eu| clan is permitted to play, it would be kinda cheep cuz everyone would be like "i call dylan" or "thats no fair, they got eu|West".
Catch 22
the only way around this would be a random team determanation but then people wouldn't be with their friends (but we're all 1 big happy family at eudemonia anyway )

sunday would be a good day(im not working). i wish we could do 5 man teams but i guess 4 would work. although if im not gonna be allowed to play with my friends i dont know if i would play at all...

Yeah, random teams would make the whole thing a lot worse. And there isn't a way to really determine the skill of people for even teams. I mean, I could bring in some random cal-m dudes, and no one would know. I don't think there should be any restrictions for teams. It's all in fun anyway, and since there's no entry fee, it's just spending your comp time another way.

If everyone views the eu| clan as a problem than make them the "store" clan during the tourny, other clans can compete to earn the chance to play the eu|clan and if they win they get more Lan time as prize.
Or you know we could just throw the eu| clan into the tourny and if too many people have a problem with it then so be it make 2nd and 3rd prize awsome, so people don't complain when Eu| takes 1st. We're not even sure of what the outcome might be who knows perhaps "Real" Clans will show up and the whole issue of eu| having unfair advantage wouldn't play a part anymore. (Although I have faith Eu| would still come out on top anyway.)
Were looking at this the wrong way, that the lan tourny is in itself a tourny with prize not some "CS lan party" The tourny should be looked at as a serious compitition between people who take the game seriously. It's the same as a Magic tourny you don't put up cash to mess around, you put up cash to play well and then hopefully "Win The Prize." If you play in the tourny be ready to face some tough opponents(like Eu|) The'll be a share of bad clans too even if you don't have a clan get some friends(who play well) together and play. If you think you'll lose don't play that's no hard to figure out. all i'm trying to stress here is that this isn't one big lan party, its a tourny and that means compitition. Besides even if your clan or group is bad practice makes perfect, right. :/

I concur! If someone REALLY wanted to win, I suppose they could fly in some cal-P people. I suppose. But yeah, if all of eu| joined for one clan. they'd also only take one prize. And hopefully, there'd be a 2nd and 3rd prize.

see this? this is right! listen to winters! he speaks the truth! LISTEN! if you want a lan party that's all friendly and crap, we can do that too, but it's not a tourney if it isn't competitive!

So, what do you all think of the following setup:
Time: Sunday afternoon (exact time TBD) Format: 4-man teams, round-robin (play details TBD) Cost: No entry fee, but you need to buy your own time Prizes: 1st place team - 3 hours per player 2nd place team - 2 hours per player 3rd place team - 1 hour per player
Post your thoughts.

works for me. Though the one question is would there be any prizes for employees, since we don't need to buy time, and getting time is sorta silly

my only thoughts are that time should be replaced for the winners at least.. i mean theoretically if we had 6 teams competing it could take 5 matches or approx 4 hours.. it might kinda suck for the winners to buy 4 hours of comp time, win, and then get 3 hours in compensation..

mmmm I don't know about that... I mean they get to participate in the tourney, and then win 3 extra hours, if we were to give the winners the 4 hours they bought to participate in the tourney back then we essentially let them enter for free....
