Finally defeated Sauron on our third try, but still seems like a hollow win since we couldn't destroy the damned ring.
So, I figure we try and hash out some general strategies here. I've heard people say that the group should rush through Bree. I've found that it's actually not bad to try and beat through the monsters, and leave seven remaining, because that frees up a die roll slot.
Is there an optimal number of hobbits for the fellowship?

I've heard that letting Sam get killed in shelobs lair so the party can move on is a good stratagy. In truth though i would have to agree with the bree stratagy, getting out of there can be a major help. another good stratagy is not to pulll over event tiles every turn. :/

I think more than 4 people playing that game is kinda bad, and my personal thought is 3 is optimal.
As far as rushing through bree, I think its good because you really don't want to end up having sauron move forward a bunch of times in the first scenario. I think this is more true when Sauron starts on 12 and not 15.

One of the things to take note of is using the Friends and Foes expansion drasticly increases the Fellowship's win percentage. With the expansion and expirenced players it was very easy to win most games through a military victory. Getting all the way to the end was still somewhat challenging though.
