I'm a player in a D&D campaign that has been running about a year. A couple of players are going back to school at the end of the summer and will be moving away. So we need some new blood!
It is a home-brew world. For a long time, the campaign was based in a maritime setting with islands, pirates, trade, etc. We have recently arrived at a previously-unknown continent. It appears to be a more traditional, feudal fantasy setting with ogres in the woods and the like.
The good news for new players is that this world is new to the party. Lately, our characters have mainly been exploring, gathering information, engaging in a little diplomacy, and basically getting to know who our allies and enemies are. The party is on the verge of a major shift as we leave the old world and enter the new. Your character could have a critical say in what the party's priorities should be. He or she could be a deciding factor in the direction the campaign takes.
All of the characters are around 5th level right now. We play 3.5 with some house rules. Our play empasizes role-playing and story.
We play Tuesday nights in El Cerrito, a couple of blocks from the El Cerrito BART station. The game starts at 6 and usually wraps by 11 at the latest. We are a mature group with ages ranging from 23 to 34.
